London Zoo is probably the most famous in the world. Built by Victorian gentlemen including Sir Stamford Raffles and Decimus Burton, it has been an integral part of London life for almost 200 years. Today you have the chance to admire more than 750 species of animals as you wander among its historic buildings and grounds.
London Zoo has undergone a transformation in recent years: from a "classic zoo" of the Victorian era, it has evolved into a conservation-oriented institution, which aims to educate and involve visitors in a project to safeguard the animal world.
Here you will find animals with the most diverse personalities: gorillas from the western plain, Komodo dragons and Galapagos tortoises, magnificent lions and tigers... All the most valuable animals are exhibited here. But that's not all, Reptile House, Butterfly Paradise, Penguim Beach and much more will occupy your day making you discover many animals.
If the thought of spending time with spiders in In With The Spiders doesn't excite you, visit the two pygmy hippos: everyone agrees that Thug and Nicky are really adorable. And to stay on the "adorable" theme, don't miss the Animal Adventure area, where the little ones can find out more about llamas, meerkats and more. As well as having fun in the play area!
